OVER 50 YEARS OF CAREER
The Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design at
the University of Monterrey has more than 50
years of experience educating professionals
capable of integrating design, technology, and
social awareness. Throughout its evolution,
the program has built an academic vision that
responds to changing industry needs and contemporary design challenges.
This trajectory is strengthened through a
combination of theoretical, practical, and technological education, supported by specialized
infrastructure and an active academic community. The program has developed a strong national and international presence, reflected in
the impact of its graduates and the quality of
the projects created within the program.

The Industrial Design faculty is composed of
active industry professionals, designers, researchers, and specialists who contribute
practical expertise and updated knowledge to
the learning experience.
Faculty members guide students through project-based methodologies, experimentation,
and critical thinking, strengthening interdisciplinary learning.
Beyond teaching, many professors maintain
active connections with design studios, companies, and independent projects, helping
bridge academic learning with professional
practice and industry opportunities.
DIN JOURNAL MAGAZINE
DINN Journal is UDEM’s Industrial Design academic publication, created as a platform to
showcase projects, research, and proposals
developed by students and faculty.
The journal functions as a space for documentation and visibility, strengthening the
connection between academia, industry, and
contemporary design culture. Through DINN
Journal, outstanding projects, creative processes, reflections, and interdisciplinary collaborations are presented, positioning the program within the broader design landscape.

STUDENT PROFILE
Industrial Design students at UDEM receive an integral education
that combines creativity, strategic thinking, and technical knowledge.
Throughout the program, they develop the skills to conceptualize, design, and materialize products, systems, and experiences with social,
cultural, and productive impact.
Students work through research, sketching, modeling, prototyping, material selection, and manufacturing processes while integrating digital
tools and emerging technologies. The curriculum promotes innovation,
interdisciplinary collaboration, and the ability to respond to real-world
challenges through a human-centered and sustainable perspective.
Additionally, students have access to learning and experimentation spaces within the Roberto Garza Sada Center, where laboratories,
workshops, and collaborative environments allow projects to evolve
from conceptualization to production

The Industrial Design program has earned national and international
recognition thanks to the quality and relevance of student and alumni
projects.
Among recent achievements is first place in the 2025 Inédito Universitario Award during Design Week Mexico, awarded to the project Herencia, which proposed transforming sargassum seaweed into a functional biotextile through a circular economy approach.
Students from the program have also received recognition in prestigious international competitions such as: A’ Design Award & Competition, Future Plastics Design Award, European Product Design Award,
Design Week Mexico.
These accomplishments contribute to a broader institutional trajectory supported by more than one hundred awards earned by the School
of Art and Design across multiple disciplines.
