CENTRO ROBERTO GARZA SADA - SCHOOL OF ART AND DESIGN

SPOTLIGHT | RAPID-FIRE WORKSHOP

Industrial Design students at the University of Monterrey participated in a rapid-fire workshop titled “Spotlight,” which took place during an intensive 8-hour session.
During this time, the students immersed themselves in a design process focused on the conceptualization and low-resolution prototyping of an interior lighting fixture based on the concept of balance.
The exercise was developed through collaborative and intergenerational teamwork, with guidance and support from faculty members within the same program. The main objective was to select five or six proposals with production potential for exhibition at WantedDesign, which will take place from May 17 to 19 in New York City. Additionally, one of the projects would be selected through a popular vote.

Throughout the day, the teams worked on ideation, conceptualization, and rapid prototyping processes, focusing on developing an interior lighting design that integrated concept, functionality, and basic production feasibility criteria. To conclude the exercise, each team presented its final proposal.
